Sir,

As you all know, one of the major weakness of the Indian seafood has been the poor perception on quality by the buyers. This perception results in the poor image for the Indian seafood products in the international market and the consequent lower unit value realization in comparison to that realized by our competitors in the same market.  It is, therefore, imperative that we make special efforts to refurbish the image of Indian products and position them as products of superior quality.

In this background, MPEDA proposes to implement the MPEDA Quality Marking or Logo Scheme to accord special recognition to products of high quality marketed by seafood units in the country.  The Logo Scheme is a purely voluntary scheme based on voluntary compliance to a set of comprehensive quality standards laid down for processing plants, raw materials, additives, products and regular inplant monitoring.  The Logo has been registered with the Registrars of Trade Marks and Patents in U.S, Europe and Japan.

The details of the scheme along with the application form has been hosted in our web site.  Interested exporters are requested to apply in the prescribed format to the nearest Regional or Sub Regional Office of MPEDA.
